This wing results from the root-reconstruction of a new building, connected to the mother-house, by a totally glassed modern corridor as a cross-way from the ancient to modern. Here the concept of “word” as a means of knowledge and expression of the popular identity also comes to life. Indeed, each room intends to portray the popular art of the northern region, enhancing some stressing issues like folk dance: “o vira”, the olive oil, the traditional embroidered lover’s handkerchiefs: “lenços dos namorados”. Furthermore, each room has a view to an interior patio with verandas turned south inviting laziness and nothing but rest.
